Catherine Baker Knoll Should Resign or be Fired!

Via Michelle Malkin we learn that Catherine Baker Knoll recently invited herself to the funeral of a Marine Staff Sgt.

The family of a Marine who was killed in Iraq is furious with Lt. Gov. Catherine Baker Knoll for showing up uninvited at his funeral this week, handing out her business card and then saying "our government" is against the war.

She sat down next to a Goodrich family member and, during the distribution of communion, said, "Who are you?" Then she handed the family member one of her business cards, which Goodrich said she still has.

"Knoll felt this was an appropriate time to campaign and impose her will on us," Goodrich said. "I am amazed and disgusted Knoll finds a Marine funeral a prime place to campaign."

What really upset the family, Goodrich said, is that Knoll said, 'I want you to know our government is against this war,' " Goodrich said.

Her attendance in itself is not an issue, but to hand out her business card and state ...

"our government" is against the war.
is unacceptable.

The Governor himself is issuing apologies. Why isn't Catherine Baker Knoll facing the public herself regarding her blunder instead of hiding behind the Governor? This is not acceptable!

Governor Rendell says written apologies will be sent to the family of a dead Marine who was upset about the lieutenant governor's appearance at his funeral last week.
On Saturday, the Post-Gazette first reported that family members said Caherine Baker Knoll went to Tuesday's funeral uninvited, passed out her business cards and made a remark about the government being against the war.

The funeral was for 32-year-old Staff Sgt. Joseph Goodrich of Westwood, who died July 10 in Iraq. Rendell said yesterday that he hadn't spoken to Knoll about it. But he says it's not the business of state government to have a position on the war. He says the state supports the men and women fighting the war. Rendell says written apologies will be sent to the Goodrich family.

I urge readers to follow this story further on Michelle's site as well as on Blogs for Bush, and Blackfive who urges everyone to write the governor a message opposing his Lt. Governors actions.

Updates will follow as ability allows.

UPDATE: 8 A.M. 26 July '05 -

Here's a twist. News now is out that she walked in, asked for a family member, was directed to an Aunt, then after her mis-deed got up and walked out ...
